The world’s favourite tunes for home improvement projects have been revealed, and it seems Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish and Tame Impala provide the best soundtrack for everything from fixing a leak, to updating a wall colour.
Interest in renovating our homes has skyrocketed during the pandemic, so Roofing Megastore analysed data from more than 70,000 songs on Spotify to reveal which songs were added the most to playlists for tasks such as: painting, gardening, home renovations, plumbing, and even putting together troublesome flat-pack furniture.
Fleetwood Mac’s 1977 relaxed hit ‘Dreams’ is revealed to be the song that tops the charts for anyone carrying out this work around the world. Interestingly, all the tunes in the top 10 appear to be chilled and laid-back songs, which could be because many of us like to feel calm and relaxed when focussing on the task at hand.
Here’s the top 10 list of the most listened to home improvement songs:
1. Dreams (2004 Remaster) – Fleetwood Mac (added 48 times to different home improvement playlists)
2. The Less I Know the Better – Tame Impala (45)
3. Sunflower (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse OST) – Post Malone (44)

Gian-Carlo Grossi, Managing Director at Roofing Megastore commented: “Since the pandemic began almost a year ago now, we’ve seen a big uplift in the number of people wanting to improve their homes and tackle projects at home. Everyone knows it’s impossible to successfully complete a project, be it plumbing or painting if you don’t have the correct motivational music, and our research clearly shows Taylor Swift is the Queen of all things home improvement.
Whatever the song or artist, we think doing anything to music makes the outcome better and the process more enjoyable, so for anyone at a loss for what to stick on before picking up the hammer, we hope our findings provide some inspiration.”
